Can't download HP3390 driver

I've just purlchased a new Macbook Pro with Mavericks 10.9. I wish to add my old HP Laserjet 3390 printer. I understand from the HP website that only the printing function is supported in Mavericks. That's fine. The operating system recognizes it. When I go to add it, the prompt says apple has software for the printer, do I wish to download it. I click the download button and then get the following prompt:

Setting up 'HP Laserjet 3390 (930C99)...'

Can't download the software because of a network problem.

The printer is connected by eithernet cable as a network printer.

I've tried this numerous times. I had already added a Canon PIXMA IP5000 (yes, another old printer!). I then reset the printing system to start over without the !P5000, still no good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
