Q: I downloaded an app to my Mac. It is trying to open but never does. I am unable to delete the app because it is "open" what can I do?

It might help us to help you if you at least told us what app.

go into system preferences and then security & privacy, and make sure "anywhere" is checked in allow apps download.

Restart your computer.

you can Close the app by option+Comand+ Esc then choose the app you want to close and then press Force Quit

i dont know if that would help but seriously I need more information to help you

look why dont you go to the application source and delete from there

when you do that the application will crash and close then you can go ahead and delete it completely

Did an "Uninstall" fill come with the app?

Hey, I'm experiencing the same problem you faced. I'm glad you managed to delete it from the icon bar. I tried doing that for mine but it isn't working. What did you do on the icon bar anyway? Thank you in advance.

The icon bar contains shortcuts, deleting one will not delete the application.

Go to the website for the vendor of the software and get their removal instructions, then follow them.

In future don't install things unless you know how to remove them.

Go into utilities under 'Applications'. Open "Activity Monitor" and force quit it from there. You should be able to delete the app after that.
