Go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage and see what is using the storage.

Also

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.

Come back with the results.

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It

An "other" larger than abount 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.

Hey Prettypez, If "Other" is your problem, correct that first then try reducing your bit rate, if "Other" is not your problem, have or do you use reduced bit rate for your music? If not, Connect to your computer with the Cable and open your iPod page in iTunes. Go down to Options, if you have not checked Convert higher bit rate to (or something like that, I'm not looking at my computer right now) check it and select 128 kbps ACC, (or it may be AAC just don't remember right now) Then sync your iPod. If you have 1000+ songs should free up load of memory, and for the most part you will not hear the difference in sound quality. This will also help slow down battery consumption. Good luck. Cheers.
