change fade-out length in imovie

I want to increase the length of an imovie fade out from .6 seconds to 2 seconds, but it won't work. i've followed the instructions in the help menu, but the fade out, despite these changes, always reverts to .6 seconds. how do i get it to change?

Are you talking about changing the fade out manually or setting it as to alwasy default to 6sec?

- You can change the fade out or in of any clip within your project manually by draging the little dot at the end or beginning of a clip.

- There currently is no option to set a default 6s for your clips.

Here is my video tutorial on fade in/out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCjvrj42RJI&list=PL0P16RU0h1Dmo8u9kVbim2Gi4MHXN_ LNP&index=5

something is up that won't allow me to do that - i've tried - i've entered different times and played with the settings in the transitions menu. i must be selecting something the wrong way - mysteriously, when i opened imovie this time, the fade-to-black clip was up to 1.3 seconds - a time amount that i never entered - but we're approaching 2 seconds little by little....which brings me hope.

i wonder : when i select it one way, the fade-to-black is encased by a yellow box, another way, it's a blue box - i can't drag it in either form, but maybe there's another way?
