Q: Reinstalling Operating System

I have a Macbook with a CD driver that does not work. This Macbook had also had the OS X operating system wiped off. When I start my Macbook the Folder with the Question mark appears on screen. I have an iMac and thunderbolt cables to connect the iMac to the Macbook. How do I use my iMac's superdrive to reinstall the OS X operating system on the Macbook.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Use Target Disk Mode if both computers support Firewire ports. Boot the MB into TDM. Put the installer DVD into the optical drive on the iMac, then boot from the DVD using:

Booting From An OS X Installer Disc

    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.

      2. Restart the computer.

      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.

      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple

          logo appears.

      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.

When you reach the point to install on a Target drive select the one belonging to your MB.
