Hi Roseann,

Take a look at the suggestions in the article below as they will resolve most issues related to FaceTime connection issues.

FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime

Troubleshooting FaceTime for Mac

You can make FaceTime calls using the FaceTime app. You can call FaceTime users whose contact information is in Contacts. You can add contacts and edit contact information in either FaceTime or Contacts. To place a video call, you may use a phone number or email address.

If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, try the following:

  • Verify that FaceTime is enabled in FaceTime > Preferences.

If the issue persists, or if you see the message "Waiting for Activation", try toggling FaceTime off and then on.

  • Verify that the Date, Time, and Time Zone are set correctly:
    1. From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences > Date & Time > Date & Time.
    2. Enable "Set Automatically".
    3. Click the Time Zone tab and confirm the closest city is correct.
  • Verify that both parties are connected to an active broadband Internet connection.
  • Verify the phone number or email address being used is the correct one activated for FaceTime.

You can verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website.

  • Verify that both parties have installed the latest software updates for their Mac and/or device. See:

Hi Roseannfromct, let me make a guess you are using your facetime while in a school, college or community network which is having some of the ports disabled, which are required to be enabled. The ports which are required to be enabled for the facetime and imesseges are listed here : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4245 .

But don't worry you need not to take panic. Just create a PPTP vpn simply and enjoy the facetime.

To Create the PPTP vpn on mac, follow the instructions listed below:

1. Go to 'Preferences'

2. Hit '+' button to add new network.

3. Choose the 'VPN' option.

4. Now under VPN options, select PPTP, give it a name and hit 'Create'.

5. Enter the folowing details:
Configuration : Default
Server Address: us.websitevpn.com
Account Name: websitevpn.com
Encryption: Automatic (128 bit or 40 bit)

Click on connec

If you are asked for a password, enter "freevpn".

6. Open the first URL and Hit "I Agree" and then configure the facetime and enjoy.

For the next time, you are required only to click connect on vpn option and then agree to the first URL. And enjoy.

P.S. 1.You can also access the websites, blocked by your DNS.
2. You can also use server address simply uk.websitevpn.com with same username and password or any other details being provided by other websites.
