Wired ethernet + charge on iPad?
Using an iPad, is it possible to have a WIRED ethernet connection AND recharge the iPad at the same time? What product is available for this? If not possible, why not?

No.
There is no ethernet port on the iPad.
No, the iPad only communicates via WiFi or Cellular Data.
Yes, for sure there is not a RJ-45 on the iPad but in viewing this video is seems possible using cable adapters:
So the question remains: Wired ethernet + Recharge at same time?
No, because you are using the dock connector for your hack. Be sure to read his article carefully then if you OK with the extra steps and probably 50/50 connection average at best, go for it. It still isn't putting an ethernet connection on your iPad, it is converting from ethernet to USB.
Pay attention to this line from that article, "...but this certainly isn’t a practical setup in the least."
I know this is an old post, but, yes, now it is possible to have ethernet and charge the iPad at the same time, with the (recent) USB 3.0 adapter. The adapter can charge the iPad AND power the ethernet adapter at the same time. It's a great feature, as a wired connection is faster and safer, and I hope the option is here to stay!
