ipod touch shows red battery logo then apple logo and turns off

So i bought an ipod off ebay and what it's doing is weird, first thing it shows a red battery logo that flashes whihc obvously means it needs to charge. so i plug it in to my computer and it shows its charging then a few seconds later it shows the apple logo and about 10 seconds later it shuts off completely. Sometimes it will get to the lock screen or the recovery mode but shuts off a few seconds later.

I suspect a bad battery which could be expected for your old 1G iPod.

If only the battery,

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for t$79. They do not fix yours.

The battery is probably melted. that happend to me, too. if you havent jailbroken it yet, apple will still give you a new iPod touch (whichever gen. you have). If it isn't melted you shoiuld try restoring it. if THAT doesn't work, then get a new battery, or a new CHARGER, or a new iPod Touch (preferably a newer model.).

Chargers- The charger could be the problem. have you tried charging it yet? You could try getting a new charger and saving it but it could just be time to get a new one.⚠
