May 27, 2014 7:39 PMby Malcolm J. Rayfield,No. You can't use the Thunderbolt cable. Thunderbolt cables work only with Thunderbolt ports (both ends). Your iMac has Mini DisplayPort, not Thunderbolt. There are no adapters that will make a Thunderbolt plug work in a Mini DisplayPort.
A Mini DisplayPort cable will work with a Thunderbolt port.
