First make sure it is for your age and model iMac. From http://www.everymac.com/ there were two such models:

User uploaded fileiMac G4/1.25 17-Inch "FP" (USB 2.0)1.25 GHz PowerPC 7445 (G4)

User uploaded fileiMac G4/1.25 20-Inch "FP" (USB 2.0)1.25 GHz PowerPC 7445 (G4)

Not all ddr sdram pc2700 333 mhz. will work. Get RAM from http://www.macsales.com/ or http://www.crucial.com/ that is made specifically for that model Mac.

http://www.ifixit.com/ typically has installation directions. You may need to find someone with the arm adjustment tool. Call around authorized service technicians to see if you can borrow it to do yourself, or if you can find it on the internet. The improper adjustment can damage the cables going up the neck, or make the neck permanently loose.
