2012 iMac 27 inch keeps crashing randomly, need help

Hello all,

Since a few months my 2012 iMac 27 inch keeps crashing. And the frequency seems to be increasing. At the moment 5-6 times a day. I don't know why. Can some expert please help me out here? Here's the most recent problem report (5 minutes ago), this time it says "kernel_task", other times it was Chrome or MailPlane or some other random app. Might this be a memory problem?

Check that these are up-to-date and OS X Mavericks compatible, or if it's an option, uninstall them according to the developers instructions just to rule them in/out of the equation. Not saying that this is definitely the problem, but often incompatible third-party software can be the cause of crashing.

Also, how much RAM do you have installed? There are lots of threads on here where users with 32gb experience random crashes. Swapping out the modules for known 'good' brands normally solves it.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your quick reply. I thought it might be because of that mousedriver, but my colleague has exact the same setup and mouse. He doesn't have these crashes.

I'll try removing that com.iospirit.driver.rbiokithelper

And at next crash I'll remove some memory. I have 12GB (4GB stock, 2x 4GB corsair upgraded)

While typing this reply my iMac crashed again, so I removed the corsair memory. See how it goes now.

Corsair memeory chips often crop up in the 'problme' list of RAM modules. If they prove to be the cause of the crashes, see if you can get a refund and then buy new chips from either Macsales or Crucial - both companies come highly recommended on here.
