First check to see if you have any back ups within iTunes by going to your iTunes Preferences and go to the Devices tab to see all back ups that are saved to your computer. You will also want to see if you are encrypting your back up by looking in the summary tab for that option. Check out he articles below on how to either troubleshoot the issue or backing up with iTunes or iCloud.
