Q: My mac book pro won't load OS Maverick

The screen flash between the desk top and the gray screen. No matter where I boot it from. Is there something I can do to recover from this? thanks

    It came with Mountain Lion installed on it. I do have a second on which I am using now, I'll check the box it came in as that is where the disk would be, if not I'll do as you suggested transfer and do all of that. I'll let you know what happens. Thank you so much for your time and help on this crazy issue.

    if it originally came with Mountain Lion, then you have a Mid 2012 model, and it would not have come with any grey installation DVDs.
