ipod nano not showing up in itunes

I changed from a mac to a pc. when I connected my ipod gen 5 it said i needed to reformat. so I reformatted and now all the screen says is "use itunes to restore". I have gone thtough every trouble shooting step on the site for the past few hours and have had no success. please help because Im ready to throw this thing against the wall.
