Hi my ipod doesnt want to charge

well i putted the ipod in the thing and he gave me the sad ipod icon then he went dead doesnt want to charge at all doesnt show me the battery icon or any thing else the computer doesnt regonize the ipod i guess , so i tryed the updater but he also doesnt recgonize the ipod... the ipod doesnt give anything on the screen its just dead (black) =( , so i tryed to charge it on my adapter but also there the ipod doesnt want to charge the screen doesnt light up 😟 its an ipod nano 4 gig
it cost me alot of money is it dead for good?
