Cannot burn audio CD - Error 4261

According to Toonz, 4261 is "Track following error"

Top fixes for any burn issue in iTUnes is...

1) Goto the PC makers site and manually look for updates for your PC, especailly BIOs and chipset/IDE controller updates and firmware updates for the CD ROM (If it came with your PC when you bought it)

2) Slow the burn speed from "Max" to something like 12x 8x or 4x. you do this by going to edit>preferences>advanced tab>burn sub tab

3) Try a different brand or type of Blank CD

You can also goto Help>run CD diagnostic and copy/paste the whole report here (So we can help you) and on apples site here (So they recieve feedback about the issue and help them build a better CD burn engine in future versions of iTunes) http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/windows/cddiagnostics/

Sorry, already did all these things and the error still comes up.

Hey folks -- My first post here, but have been lurking for a long time looking for the solution to this very frustrating problem myself.

Just resolved it today, and wanted to report in. For me, it turned out to be a hardware problem.

I run a Dell Dimension E310, purchased December 2005. Included was a 16X DVD+/-RW Drive, identified on its label as:

H-L Data Storage
DVD Writable / CD-RW Drive
Model GWA-4164B
Manufactured September 2005
ROM Ver D108

I updated the firmware and still ran into Error 4261 problems.

At this point I contacted Dell Tech Support, who diagnosed my machine online and determined that the drive had "gone bad."

They shipped out a replacement (mfr date June 2006), which I popped in today, and iTunes is once again burning CDs with no problems. Phew.
