Sleep LED brightness / ambient light sensor
This is a 1.67 ghz 15" powerbook g4 with an ambient light sensor.
I've noticed that when the machine goes to sleep with the lid open, the white sleep led pulsates within a limited brightness range correlating to the ambient light level in the room. Specifically, in a darkened room, the sleep led dims to a reasonable level.
Unfortunately, if I close the lid to put the computer to sleep (or close the lid after it is already asleep), the led acts as if it is in a bright room and pulsates with max intensity. This makes it hard for me to get any sleep when the computer is sleeping in my bedroom!
Is this typical behavior? I can see how the ambient light sensors might not be operational when they're covered by the closed lid, but I wish there was a way to make the led default to a minimal level in this case.

Ed
