I bought a sampler from Microbatteries, I think you were the poster that I got that tip from.

The iCelltech batteries I got were all dead when I tried to use them, even though the expiration date was 2018, I think.

At any rate I emailed microbatteries and they replaced them with 2 cards of a different brand.

What is really interesting is just this Thursday I started experiencing a buzzing/static sound in my right aid. Best I could determine it was caused by a couple different apps on my iphone that were recently updated. I have had both apps since long before I had the Halos, never had the issue until Thursday. Have you noticed any correlation with the noise and apps running on your phone? I have auto update set for most of apps, checked the app store and sure enough the 2 apps I am having the buzzing with both updated recently. I have not updated to the new version of iOS8 yet. I thought the buzzing was the apps, but I have also had battery life issues with that right aid. I have actually sent the aids back to Starkey twice. Once in October, because I was getting "low battery" multiple times a day, don't know if they replaced the aid or fixed something but it stopped and I was getting close to a week out of a battery. Had the same issue again last month, sent the aids in and am now back to frequent low battery sometimes I change a couple times in a day, and something I get a few days. I do have my Wii aids, but I feel lost without the Halos, I am in the same boat with not being able to work if I don't have my aids. I only send them in if all else fails. Good news is, I send them overnight and Usually have them back in 2 days. Last time, I sent them on Monday afternoon, got the m back on Wednesday.

I Have noticed that battery charge indications often vary dramatically between using the Truelinlk app or Settings, General, Accessibility, Hearing Aids or triple clicking the Home button. Variations usually at the end of the normal life of a battery. Cannot imagine an app having any impact on the battery life of the aid. Which apps do you suspect?

LanB22: I was experiencing the buzzing, too. The last time it happened, I replaced just the battery that failed (I otherwise replace both batteries as soon as I hear the "Battery" warning). That was more than 36 hours ago and no issues so far. I am going to guess it was just a couple of bad batteries. I like the iCellTech batteries because when they don't fail, I can get 8 days out of them.

2 slot machine game apps, slotomania and caesars slots, interestingly they are made by the same company.

My issue is always in the right aid. Sometimes I can switch the batteries between the two aids and get several more hours.

I can also open and close the battery door of the right aid and get several more hours. Which makes me think it is a breakdown in a sensor in the right aid.

Has anyone updated to newest iOS8? I've seen a lot of complaints in general about the update. The other day I saw an article claiming Twitter lost 4 million users due to the upgrade. Everything is working with my aids right now, which makes me hesitant to upgrade.

I have been running 8.1.3 for what I think is a couple of weeks now. I have had no issues other than the battery problem I reported above. I have also been running TruLink 2.0.0 since it was release in mid-January (again....I think....). Also no issues there.

iOS and TruLink both seem to be getting better and better as well as coexisting better, too.

Not chimed in in a while but I am still having the problem of my iPad hijacking one of my hearing aides whenever I have Bluetooth on. This is disturbing since it affects my being able to control the aides with my iPhone. One looks to be off in TruLink. When this happens I cannot stream anything through the hearing aid that was hijacked. I cannot see why making it possible to set aids to communicate only with the device you want is so hard. And yes I have told the iPad to forget the device and no the aid is not paired with the iPad. It just won't work if the iPad has BT on. I need to be able to have BT on as I use a BT keyboard with the iPad.

On APPS and deleting and downloading. Assuming your APP came from the APP store, it is always available for re-download if you got it free or bought it.

Other than the hijack problem, my aids are working well. Not having the problems regarding batteries. I use the ones my audiologist provides.

Hey guys. Hope all is well. Not been on here a while, as all seems to be working well with the Halos.

My audiologist is coming to see me this week with what appears to be a firmware update for the Halos. Anyone know anything more about this?

Also, I have just upgraded to iOS 8.2 beta 5. Is anyone else using this? After 24 hours, I can say the connectivity is ten times better than before. Immediate, stable and long-lasting. Having said this, I do realise that I should give it a lot longer before a proper appraisal, but these are my first impressions.

Hi Mike,

Your post was well-timed. I am still in the process of troubleshooting an ongoing issue with my Bluetooth connectivity dropping (only at my home) when I have both Bluetooth and WiFi up. When both are enabled, Bluetooth drops intermittently thus losing streaming capability for 1 or 2 seconds. It has become maddening when on a phone call. I have been working with Apple and we're now to the point of restoring my iPhone 6 to original settings, testing streaming and rebuilding as I go. I believe this is a unique issue with me and not an issue at-large.

Good to hear about 8.2 b5. Maybe I will bite the bullet and load that while I'm in the status I'm in and see what happens. It's worth a shot. Also curious about this firmware upgrade. Do you have any additional info on it?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave

I had been Googling Halo firmware, and I came across this review of the Trulink app (below) This is what made me bite the bullet. If it is true, it looks to be really exciting.

Update your Halo Firmware!

by Linefeeed

While you’re waiting for Apple to release iOS 8.2 (with significant BTLE improvements that address the pairing problems) contact your audiologist and make an appointment to have your Halos’ firmware upgraded. Besides much-improved connectivity and more reliable auto-stream switching, the new firmware adds two new features: “Stream Boost” (You have to try it to believe it - the difference is like going from an AM radio to FM with a subwoofer) and “Comfort Boost” (additional on-demand noise reduction.) I had my firmware updated this afternoon. It takes about 20 minutes and is well worth the effort.
