Sep 24, 2014 2:43 PM in response to OldGnomeby LanB22,So true OldGnome!!
I didn't realize how many people I ignored until my kids were old enough to tell me...Mom that lady was talking to you and you just walked away.
I am sure there are plenty of people over the years that thought I was just rude and uppity because they didn't get my attention first. I am in the habit in social settings to tell people that I wear aids but I still have to read lips, so if I am not looking at you I am not hearing you. Some people get it others just can't grasp it. Most difficult when I was sitting in bleachers at one of my kids sports games and moms if front of me would talk without turning around, I usually sit in the front row so I can turn and see whoever might be talking, only issue then is I miss the game.

Sep 24, 2014 2:46 PM in response to OldGnomeby SantafeNM,Normally I do not care either but there are some social situations where playing with the iPhone just looks bad. Especially if people do not know you. I.e. The funeral. I just chose not to hear In that instance. In a group of friends no one cares.

Sep 24, 2014 2:46 PM in response to OldGnomeby LanB22,Did you buy them online?? I usually buy from costco or sam's, I've never seen Xcell brand

Sep 24, 2014 3:00 PM in response to LanB22by OldGnome,I bought most of them online at microbattery.com and I also got some from an online colleague who runs a Web site devoted to hearing loss (hearingtracker.com). He gave some Xcells to me for writing review of both the Halos and Linx (which I wore for a month and returned).

Sep 24, 2014 3:55 PM in response to LanB22by mltobey,I am so disappointed! My Halos were working perfectly with my iPhone 5, even after I upgraded to iOS 8. But of course I had to have the newest gadget and ordered the iPhone 6 -- can't get it to pair with my HAs no matter what (or how many) contortions I go through. This means I'm going to have to keep the 5 (instead of handing it down to a family member, as I had planned) and carry both phones around until this gets fixed -- the iPhone 5 will be used only to control the HAs but no longer has phone service on it, so I will have to carry my iPhone 6 with me as well for phone service. Very frustrating and utterly ridiculous for such high-tech and expensive devices!

Sep 24, 2014 4:11 PM in response to mltobeyby SantafeNM,Make sure you set them up as new using accessibly pairing. I am able to fairly consistently control the microphones and choose the program. But other features do not respond for me.
Apple is good about getting things fixed but I think we all should email Apple and Starkey about putting our health and lives in danger by not working more closely with each other before releasing health apps to the public.

Sep 24, 2014 4:45 PM in response to SantafeNMby coafh,I spoke to Apple and they are putting an update out in the next day or so. Always expect a few bumps in the road when something new comes out. Once they get the kinks worked out, you'll never go back.

Sep 24, 2014 5:36 PM in response to coafhby LanB22,A new update that will address compatibility with iPhone 6 and the Halos??
Have they determined it is an apple iOS issue or is it the tru link app? Or do they even know?

Sep 24, 2014 5:56 PM in response to LanB22by dogsitter,There's a Bluetooth issue and a Wi-Fi issue. An update was posted today, but pulled a short time later because the fix caused other problems. My plumber ran across the same thing under my kitchen sink. I fired him.

Sep 24, 2014 8:45 PM in response to SantafeNMby LanB22,santafeNM you mention putting us in danger, here is a perfect example of something that happened to me this past Saturday night. I met my husband at a social function. It was at a venue I wasn't sure how to get to, I streamed directions from my phone, first time ever I've been able to hear not just see them. During the evening I left my phone in my purse my aids got disconnected, I couldn't reconnect. less then 10 miles from home a deer ran into the side of my car, in a place I would not have expected to see deer. Totally shook me up. It hit me from the drivers side front end. loud thunk on a deserted street. Very surreal, Scared the crap out of me. I didn't know if I should stop, call the cops etc. i wanted to call my husband, but my aids wouldn't connect which made me feel that much more agitated.
I wasn't hurt, made it home just fine. When I went to get out of my car I couldn't even open the door. The entire left quarter panel. Wrap around headlight, hood and front grill are destroyed. I was really lucky that I wasn't hurt and that I was able to drive home.
my hearing has made me very reclusive. That is a perfect example of why. The fear that something will happen and I won't be able to communicate over the phone if needed. These aids could be the answer to ease a lot of my anxiety, then they fail when I really needed them. I am hopeful all the bugs will get smoothed out soon.

Sep 25, 2014 9:45 AM in response to dogsitterby Doopher,Dogsitter, your post made me think. I turned off WiFi on my iPhone 6 and went through the pairing process in Accessibility etc. My Halos connected first time, and were reliably connected (with all controls and programmes working) for about half an hour until I went back to my 5s. Streaming music was perfect, with no drops.
While I was streaming, I turned on WiFi, and it immediately became more patchy. It still worked, but it was a bit patchy.
So it looks as though it may be something to do with the interaction between Bluetooth and WiFi perhaps?

Sep 25, 2014 9:56 AM in response to Doopherby LanB22,Doopher, would love a report back if you turn wifi off, power off the 6 and reconnect, will the Halos work? I would be totally willing to forgo a wifi connection on the 6 until it is fixed. I ordered my 6 after Starkey said on their facebook page they were compatible. I have it, but haven't activated it yet. I have a small window of time to do so and send my 5 back for $231 credit. Don't want to miss out on the credit, but am dependent on the aids, as I am sure many of us are.

Sep 25, 2014 10:26 AM in response to LanB22by Doopher,Hi Lanie
Yes, I will do that, and do a few more tests and post up another report. Just off to a school prizegiving now so will try and post something later (it's early evening here in England!) I'm pretty certain the 6 will be sorted soon, so I would recommend keeping it, but I understand why you are nervous about it.
Mike.
