With a MacBook Pro SSD 128GB, can I split my hard drive?

Hi everybody!

I need urgent help.. I recently bought a Macbook Air 13" I5 SSD 128 GB,

It was a purchase with little time to research, I needed a good processor for large databases on a budget, having Samsung, MacBook Pro & Air on my final list. I preferred the Mac, and between their models, the Macbook pro available was not the latest so I went for the Macbook Air because of the SSD (I'm definitely not a tech savvy person).

I have had to struggle with some MS Excel Features that are not available for Mac, and my main dissapointment has been with Add ons to Excel that I cannot install in the Mac Version. Now I'm facing issues with Eviews (Econometrics software) version for Mac, and to troubleshoot it all, I would like to split my hard drive to have Windows & OS.

Now the issue is the size of my hard drive! 128 GB, of which I am currently using 47GB (almost all my files are in an external drive), leaving me with 73GB.

Is it possible to make the partition succesfully, being able to run MS Office basic package (Excel my only real need) and a max. 2 GB Eviews software? If so, how much space should I allocate to such partition?

I appreciate in advance your help, you would save a master student desperate for help! 😉

Regards,

Mariana.
