Q: MBP does not boot, after boot sequence is finished everything shuts down

I've installed Sophos AV (yesterday), it froze my MBP everytime it ran a scan. Now my MBP won't boot. grey boot screen with logo with a loading circle, then the progress bar at the bottom reaches full bar, everything just shuts down.

verbose mode shows an error with > incorrect number of extended attributes.

system is unable to repair it automatically, after 3 tries the system shuts down.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), 13-inch, Mid 2010
