How do I scan to my iMac from my HP 3520? Printer says "Make sure printer software is installed on your computer and the "Scan to Computer" is enabled via the printer software. Please help - I'm desperate to scan something to someone urgently - Thanks
My first question to you is, did you install the driver software that came with your HP printer? If not, you must find it and install that.
Secondly, if it is installed, there should be an option available in the printer's software to allow scanning.
I know little more than that because I am unfamiliar with any HP software.

Scanning on a Mac is pretty simple, there are several methods. The easiest one I have found is to run Image Capture which is pre-installed on your Mac. Apple explains scanning in this artcle, you should find what you need by clicking:
