Gmail problem with 2 accounts on Mail 5.3

I am using Mail 5.3 and iMac OS X 10.7.5.

I have two gmail accounts that have worked perfectly until the past few days. I have not recently changed or updated and settings or software.

Here is my situation:

I will send an email from my primary gmail account. When the person replies, the reply email comes into my secondary gmail account. My sent folder shows that I did in fact send from the primary account. But the person receiving my email gets it from the secondary account.

This is driving me nuts because I want to send all emails from the primary (and have set it up that way in preferences). My secondary gmail account is only used for online shopping and logging into websites, etc. , not for personal communication.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I couldn't find anything related during a search of this forum.

Hey cc365,

Thanks for the question. It sounds like your primary email account may be configured to send messages through the secondary accounts server. You can verify this by checking your outgoing mail server:

Lion Mail: Verify your outgoing mail server

Make sure the Outgoing Mail Server is set to the correct server for your account. If you need more information, you can “Edit SMTP Server List…” to view the username, password, and server address.

Thanks,

Matt M.
