Q: One of my mp3 files fails to upload successfully to Course Manager

One of my mp3 files -- which plays perfectly on my iTunes app -- fails to upload successfully to iTunes U.  A one hour file displays as only four minutes and seemingly has no content.

If you reloaded or navigated away during the upload, it's possible the upload failed to complete. Have you tried removing the broken file and uploading it again? This time, I'd recommend letting the upload complete before you did anything else in the UI.

    Does that help?

I have attempted uploading the file repeatedly (about 10 times), never navigating away from the page.  I also removed the broken file before uploading (about 4-5 times).  The file was created originally with Audacity, then converted to an mp3 file.  So, I even tried exporting the Audacity file to create a new version of the mp3 file, then uploading it to Course Manager.  Still, no good.  This didn't happen to any of the 21 other audio files handled in (I'm pretty sure) exactly the same way.

Without looking at the file, the best I can guess is there's some metadata in it that's confusing the servers. How about trying this:

    • import the file into iTunes
    • select the file in iTunes
    • File > Create New Version > Create AAC Version
    • drag the newly created version to your desktop
    • upload the newly created .m4a version

    Does that work?

Thanks so much!  I'm a little confused about why the problem occurred only with this file, but your solution worked.  Thanks.
