How do I transfer my photos to a seagate storage device

I have a seagate storage device attached to the usb, it is displaying all of it's content so I figured it's working...but I don't know how to transfer the photos from my computer over to it. When I highlight and drag there is the "O" with the line crossed through it displaying over the seagate line. I also tried to copy the pictures and then enter the seagate and paste the pics into the folder, NOPE.

So is this one of those annoying apple things were if I'm not copying to another apple or to an ipad or an iphone, etc, it just won't let me? Am I limited to a CD at this point? Because I have videos to transfer as well. That will be a PITA if I need to use 20 CDs to get them from my comp.....

Any suggestions? It's a 250GB seagate device.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

What format is the Seagate drive? If you go to it's icon on the desktop and do a 'Get Info", does it say 'NTFS'?

If it does, that's one format that macs can't write to natively. You can buy this software (http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/) but if you're going to be using the drive alot then you should consider wiping the drive (after backing up obviously) and formatting it as Mac, FAT32 or exFAT.
