Q: Unable to receive e-mails on mac.com address

Hi all,

the primary e-mail address of my Apple ID is a mac.com one and has been successfully verified in the past, but today I noticed that I can't receive any e-mails and trying sending an e-mail to that address results in a 'Mail System Error - Returned Mail' message due to 'Reason:    5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias'.

Any clue how to solve that?

Tx & regards.

    Hi JML@Apple,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

Are you able to log into the iCloud site with that user name and password? Take a look at the article below and try the general iCloud troubleshooting tips.

    Hi Jason,

    thank you for answering.

Well, I'm able to log into iCloud with my @mac.com account and I can see e-mails sent to my alternate @me.com e-mail address. Accessing my account settings on 'My Apple ID' (https://appleid.apple.com/account/home) under the section 'Apple ID and Primary Email Address' there is indicated that my @mac.com address has been successfully verified. On my iPad under 'Mail' - 'iCloud Accont Informartion' my @mac.com address is registered and I can see the e-mails sended to my @me.com address, but triying to reply the e-mails results in an error message 'The sender address ".....@mac.com" was rejected by the server.'.

Did also take a look on the troubleshooting article, but I'm suspecting that my @mac.com address definitions have been disabled or deleted on the server-side. Do you have any possibility to verify those definitions? At a first look I can't find any configuration issues neither on my physical systems nor within my iCloud or Apple ID settings.

    Best regards,

    José
