why my wesc piston bluetooth headset is not detected by my macbook air? (but is by my iphone)

I stumbled across this trying to do this with my own ones.

1. Turn the headhones off
2. Hold down the power button to turn them on again but keep the power button held down for 7(ish) seconds, as this will clear the device it's been paired with
3. It'll now show up in Bluetooth devices. You can now pair it
