cannot activate FaceTime and iMessage - error message although correct apple.id used

If you are getting the "check the network connection" message....

Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.

If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I am getting the same thing, I am thinking that it must be a bug in IOS 7.1.1......hopefully Apple is working on a IOS 7.1.2 update. I am part of the jailbreak community and we all think that they are working on some kind of update before IOS 8. So let's ALL just keep hoping that they fix it. It's a little annoying.

Really? You're jailbroken and you think there is a bug that Apple should be working on? Seriously? I have never, ever had one issue at all with FaceTime or iMessages on my Macs, iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches. There is no bug. Maybe jailbreaking had something to do with your problem.

No, right now there is no jailbreak... iMessage has not been working on my iPad for the last month...but I just tried to use your time and date method and it worked! So thanks to you for that! Has far as jailbreak it really does not do anything to your device other then open the software. Thanks again for your help with the iMessage on my iPad, appreciate it!
