Upgrade OS X 10.5.8 to OS X 10.6 without DVD drive

I would like to upgrade OS X 10.5.8 (leopard) to OS X 10.6 (snow leopard) and bought the DVD from apple store. Forgot however that my DVD player in my macbook pro is not working anymore (never use it!). What can i do? I have a PC with a DVD player. Can i copy the contents of the DVD to a USB stick on the PC, and then upgrade the Macbook pro from the stick? Or is there another solution?

Thanx!

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

No, you can't use your PC.

This article seems to say that if your Mac was born without a CD drive, it could share the drive of certain PC's if you added a bit of Apple software to the PC. It presents NO solution for a Mac that has a drive, but its broken:

DVD or CD sharing: Using Remote Disc

This article tells how you might be able to fool your Mac into allowing that feature to go forward, even if it has a CD drive:
