I am unable to factory reset my late 2011 macbook pro 13 inch

I boot up my laptop, hold the option key, then I enter the 10.9.2 recovery, it tries to load for a minute or so and then shuts down.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

MrSantana,

do you have access to a FireWire cable and a second Mac with a FireWire port? If so, you could boot your MacBook Pro into Target Disk mode so that it will be treated as an external hard disk by the second Mac. You could then run Disk Utility on the second Mac to completely erase your MacBook Pro’s internal hard disk, after which you can boot your MacBook Pro into OS X Internet Recovery to factory reset it.

I actually do have access to several other macs. I think maybe my recovery is corrupted or maybe I deleted an important file on my mac itself.

Also, I'm curious, when apple releases their next big OS X update if I can factory restore at that point?

I wouldn't mind waiting till then since I primarily use my windows 7 partition on my macbook pro and only use the mac partition every once in a while.
