The particular file in question may be corrupted. It's unclear from your post if the error code 36 (I presume -36) was on the Mac side or the Palm side.
Given what you described, this is sort of a "legacy" error message. See
"Mac OS System Error Codes: 0 to -261." As you'll note therein, an error code -36 is "I/O error (bummers)."
1. Does the file in question open correctly on your Mac?
2. If applicable, does the file in question open correctly on your Palm?
3. As a general checkup, I suggest you run the Procedure outlined in my
"Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
4. It's unclear from your post if you're using iSync, Palm Desktop for Mac, or both. You may want to consult the
Palm Support site for additional assistance if the information above does not help.
