how do I remove macbooster?

What is "Spotlight", and have you ever seen malware/virus that inserts the address below in your browser homepage setting? It appears that it takes control of the browser and randomly opens browser tabs with offerings such as MacBooster. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Spotlight is the magnifying icon in the upper right hand corner of the display in the menu bar:

In finder, hold the option button and go to "Go". Select library and search for macbooster. Click and drag it to the trash. Should get rid of the thing. Do not give Macbooster your password.
