I have transfered several movies from Sony magnetic tapes into iMovie. Now I want to burn on DVD that will work on any DVD and Blue Ray players. Does anyone know how to do it. Apple had that feature, but has been eliminated no latest versions of OSX. Its shame!

Did you have iLife 09 or 11 (with iDVD) previously? If so, it should still be in your Applications folder as the latest iMovie does not wipe out earlier versions. However, you cannot directly share from the new iMovie - you will need to export to desktop as a file first and then drag it into iDVD (or, if that does not work - it didn't for me - import it into the older iMovie version still on your Mac and then proceed as you used to).

I purchased my iMac on Dec 2012, so iLife was never been there.
Newer version of iMovie wiped out all iDVD features. It appears in the help but does not exist in the program.
That's unfortunate; if you want iDVD, then follow Frank's recommendations. Or, you can purchase Roxio Toast or download Burn (very basic, but does do the job) since you do need to have burn software in order to burn movies to a DVD.
To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.
New Version of iMovie, does not have iDVD. It appears in the help but does not exist in the program.
