Q: Are the only apps that can be used are the ones that show on the menu for Apple TV?

I would like to be able to use NBC and CBS apps - but they don't show up on menu screen- just ABC- how can I add apps to the menu?

You can't add apps to Apple TV. If you have an IOS device and an app the supports airplay, you can use that to stream the content via ATV

I have a brand new Mac Home computer. My first experience with Mac. I would like to view content from apps other than those on apple tv. I am not very tech savvy. What is streaming content via ATV?

I was referring to using airplay to stream contents from an IOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) to the TV via the Apple TV interface.
