ichat audio and video problems, error 8

I too have had problems with using video between myself and my girlfriend, who is on Windows XP and using AOL AIM. We can see each other, but can not hear each other. Can you help?

Do you have Conference Recorder installed by chance?

The windows user may need to "Tune" their settings. In AIM 5.9, look for video options and tuning. This will insure that the microphone and web cam are correctly "tuned"

Hello there
I have a new Mac Book my wife also has one
We used ICAT with vidio and audio.
It worked the first few times but now all we get is a connection error on both ends if either of us try to connectnect.
It works when we try to chat with others and the im works but not the video and audio
Ocassionaly it does work lets say one out of 10 times but thats it.
The screen shows that it is connecting but then it gives us an error and asks if we want to notify apple or not - we do.
Thats it..can you help

Hi there. I just got an iSight camera and now I'm having the same communication error messages when attempting to use the audio or video chat. Text chatting is fine. Can someone help me with this?

Congrats on your purchase. Have you tried forwarding the proper ports in your router to a STATIC IP Address?

didn't seem to have any effect. I don't have the firewall running at the moment. Any other suggestions?

You will need to access your routers configuration and open the ports.

If you refer to http://www.portforward.com, select your router type and select iChat as the application, it will walk you through the set up process.

One thing to mention, they list port 4099 to be opened, when in reality it should be 5190. The rest appears to be ok.

What is your internet up and download speeds?

Sounds as if you need to adjust a few settings:

Navigate to:

System Pref>Quicktime>Streaming = 1.5

iChat>Pref>Video>Bandwidth limit=NONE

Try making those adjustments and let's see what happens.
