iPhoto 2 for OS 9?

I've saw on ebay software that came with a Pismo G3 powerbook. One of those software titles is iPhoto, so does this mean that there is a version of iPhoto that works with OS? Did Apple even release a version if iLife which works with OS 9?

Sabrina Mancini...

Unfortunately, Mac OS 9 was left out in the developments of iPhoto or even iLife. Those apps need Mac OS 10 (Probably 10.3 or greater in some cases) and some additonal apps may need a computer with greater specs to have full function.

I think it was last year when Ulead dropped "Ulead Photo Explorer 2.0 for Mac". If your looking for a Mac OS 9 "iPhoto-like" application, thats the one I recomend. It may be still around in places that sells the older software but Ihat is a search all of its own.

Sabrina,

There are a number of alternatives for OS9 (as well as Robbies suggestion), don't underestimate the shareware GraphicConverter. Even with iPhoto 2 and iPhoto 5 at my disposal in OSX, I still use GC.

Even on it's own, it works a treat, but it's completely scriptable (AppleScript) and so with about 30 lines of script I can create my own thumbnails of all my photos automatically. And with about 12 lines of PHP and 30 lines of HTML, I have a single web page that lets me browse the thumbnails of my 14,000 or so photos (thanks Nikon for the D100) sorted by holiday date, etc. and with a single click bring up the selected photo at full size.

Even less effort, which I recommend to everyone, is to visit all the digital camera manufacturer websites looking for free downloads of software for using with their cameras. For OS9 you won't find that much unless you visit the original manufacturers of digital cameras (not the recent naff quality £50 digital cameras). Kodak, Nikon, Canon, maybe even Minolta and others will have OS9 software. Understand that you have to have a camera by these manufacturers to use the software under the license. I, unfortunately, do.
