May 31, 2014 4:15 PM in response to kd4koby Tom Wolsky,What is the graphics card? If it's not on the supported list it may work fine for something things, but fall apart with other things.

May 31, 2014 4:51 PM in response to Tom Wolskyby kd4ko,The Chipset is ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro.
It is true that it would not work for everything that you could throw at it, but that is no reason to completly lock me out.
I do lots of titles and overlay in my videos. The most complex overlay I have done so far is this.
Another user of the same 2008 iMac has even used Green Screen.

May 31, 2014 4:58 PM in response to kd4koby Russ H,It's probably the 2400 or 2600. If, (and I hope it doesn't happen) FCP X starts acting up, the graphics card should be a prime suspect.

Jun 1, 2014 6:11 AM in response to Russ Hby kd4ko,I have already been down that road. Early this year, I sent the computer to Power Book Medic for repair of the graphic circuit.
I have Mavericks and FCP 10.1.1 on a 200 gb partition of my 1 tb internal drive.
Also, according to Apple, FCPX was not supposed to work on this computer. I'm glad that I did not know that, but I was not locked out from downloading it!

Jun 1, 2014 6:25 AM in response to kd4koby Tom Wolsky,Apple does not say it does not work. It says it's not supported. So when you're exported files appear with weird pixelization in places or green speckles in other places you'll have a good idea why.

It still would be nice if the program was not blocked!

Jun 1, 2014 12:03 PM in response to kd4koby Tom Wolsky,Apple would get into a world of hurt if they sold software that was not supported on the downloading system.
