Double tap, drag, highlight

In my previous operating system, I used to be able to double tap the track pad and then drag down to highlight sections of text/move items. I'm having trouble adjusting my trackpad options to accommodate this, so I was hoping one of you lovely folks might be able to shed some light on this for me. I've already clicked the "Tap to click" option on Trackpad preferences and I know that you can highlight with a 3 finger drag....just wondering if the method I mentioned above is this no longer an option?

Hello and welcome to the Apple Support Community 🙂

Yes the three finger drag is what I use now, but you can still double *click* and drag.

It was my understanding that double tap and drag would work but it seems it doesn't anymore!

So you can double click instead of tap and drag, that works.

Or alternatively just use the three finger drag, which i find to be much easier.

Alternatively if you dont mind using the keyboard as well, you can double *tap* a word, then hold shift and tap where you want the selection to end.

Try it right now on my response text! If that doesn't work, then please let me know and I'll see if i can help 🙂

Sometimes using a trackpad can be a bit of a... drag 😎

Hope this helps,

xeni
