Q: Unlocking i phone

I changed from an orange contract 7 days ago to O2 sim only. Everything seemed to go well 3 people at O2 told me the phone was unlocked. When the transmission from Orange stopped I put in the o2 sim card and discovered the phone was locked!

Orange sent me instructions to unlock the phone  via an i tunes porcedure 5 days ago, but its not unlocking nor can the O2 store get it to work , so we all think its is still locked. WE have done the rease and restore so many times now.

Orange are not responding to me now because I no longer have a conrect with them, how can I contact Apple to see if they ever received the unlock request from Orange.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.1

Call AppleCare they will tell you if the iphone has been unlocked ,the process is automatic no human intervention at Apple end .You are right to be suspicious of Orange

Thank you for your help. Apple have confirmed that the phone is still locked and that they have received no request from Orange to unlock. I don't suppose you have a contact number at Orange- I can't use the 150 number because I no longer have a contract with them.

No sorry no details  I wouldn't use EE (orange) if they were the last carrier in UK

If you go onto their website there will a land line number somewhere there

If all else fails buy an Orange PAYG sim and as a customer apply again for an unlock .................

    Thanks again.

I have found a number under their complaints code of practice page which gives 07973 100150 from a landline, but of course when you key your own mobile number as requested,  a recording says it does not recognise your number ( well it wouldn't if I'm now out of contract) then it says and "everyone is busy so I can't connect you to an operator."

I can't believe the arrogant way that a business customer is treated, since I paid them quite a bit each month. I also have had to request that my last bill is posted to me, as I was on-line billing and on line access has also been disconnected I can't download the last bill which eas direct debited the day before they switched off supply!

Just finally got through to business support by  dialling and changing last digits in telephone number and they say it could take up to 30 days to unlock. All they can do is e mail the relevant department.

So I would really not recommend Orange to any business user, because you don't havae time for their shannanigans.
