if a game is sold at retail, and someone offers to give a copy of it to anyone who asks for it, then it isn’t legitimate, and there’s no guarantee that it’s safe. If a game is given away by its creator, then it would be legitimately (and most likely safely) downloaded from the creator’s Web site.
Most torrents have malware in them, I would not touch it with a 1000ft pole. No, most are unsafe.
