Probably db question but why does the image on my iPod not go to landscape when I turn it on its side ( when on safari, for example)

By the way I tried double clicking the home button but I do not get an icon of a circular arrow to see if there is a padlook
Never mind, just searched online and found out about control menu at the bottom of the screen, thanks for asking at least
Do as the instructions say if you have iOS 7, You swipe up to show the Conrol Centerand the circled padlocl is there.
