Q: cursor not aligning with text on external monitor

i have a HP LE2201w external monitor connected to my macbook pro. on the external monitor my cursor doesnt line up with the text it is always slightly above. thus to highlight text i need to move the cursor above the text position and guess where it will start highlighting, im not sure how to fix this
