opening attached files in iPad latest ios

Hi

I'm having troubles in my organization to open files (word,) attached to email docs in my ipad and this hapenned after i update to the latest ios.

files do not open and they become corrupted and impossible to open.

I really would like to have a global solutions for this big bug .

Troubleshoting this issue i found out that if i open the document first on my Desktop with the mcrosoft word, and analysing with the inspection tool i could take the personal and xml info away from the doc and then resent it and then i could open it ~in the ipad.

Please forgive my english 🙂

Thus anyone has a similar problem?

ThankU

What app are you using to open the Word documents?

Look at the Rccharles answer on this post.

Also, you can download these free MS Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to view (but not create or edit) these files.

Thanks

i have several, quickoffice or microsoft word for ipad.

but i believe the issue is really when it comes to attached files via email (Exchange Server) in iPad

when i open them via gmail for instance i have no problem on downloading and opening. Helas !

but when it concerns certain word docs thar are just forwarded without having first been open (specially word docs)

they just don't open and a have this message in full screen says:

the docs file name followed by the version open XML from Officice or Word97 bla bla .....

Is there a centralized way to configure in the ios for attached files to open always in a certain version ...

Cheers, AT

I also found on a blog the following information that helps understanting my problem:

After I Update to IOS 7.1 I can't open file attached in my email May 22, 2014 5:37 PM (in response to David_PDX) David_PDX wrote:

Hi Alex,

The trick to this whole thing is to scroll to the bottom of the message. There should be a dashed line at the bottom of the email message with text underneath it that says, "This message was downloaded as plain text." Underneath that it should say (in blue hyperlink text) "Download full message". Select that hyperlink, and the Excel file should download completely. You should then be able to select the document and have it open correctly.

I have had the same concern regardless of file format that is sent, so I do not believe your issue is with file format. Hope this helps.

I've seen the same thing happen with images, which it displays in a corrupted form. It's fixed by downloading the full message.

There's a more serious side effect of this, which I've now seen with several types of files. If one FORWARDS the email to someone else, the attached files it sends them are CORRUPTED and unopenable too. In the case of a Word files I looked at, it had dropped the last two bytes of the file.

The workaround for that is to download the full message before forwarding.

I'm seeing this happening with so many types of attachments that I'm assuming it affects them all. Please everyone report this to Apple feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/). It's one thing not being able to open a file on your device, it's another to have files corrupted permanently just by forwarding.
