Jun 2, 2014 6:03 AM in response to dnossby Limnos,★HelpfulSo this is clear, you want you iTunes media on the external drive? Why not put the whole library there? It makes it a lot easier to move in the furutre and if the external drive will have to be on in order to play anything then you might as well keep it all together neat and tidy.
You don't say how you had it organized previosly which makes it hard to tell you what needs moving where. If it was all together before, copy the entire iTunes folder to the desired drive, then start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file on the new drive.

Jun 2, 2014 3:31 PM in response to Limnosby dnoss,Actually, I want to restore music from my Time Capsule that I did not restore to my new Hard Drive on my iMac because there was not enough space to do it. If music wil not restore due to the lack of space, I will create space by saving files to the external drive. Does that make sense?

Jun 2, 2014 8:30 PM in response to dnossby Limnos,It makes sense but it doesn't answer my question. Most people keep their whole library together inside the iTunes folder (if you don't know what I mean by whole library you need to read the links). Some people split things across different drives. What needs moving where depends upon how you had it organized before. I already outlined the process for the single library folder. Copy the entire iTunes folder from the Time Capsule to the external drive etc.
