Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you would like to delete music from your iTunes Library you can follow the steps from the following article.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772
Music
Open the section below for the device you are using.
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Mac or PC
- Open iTunes.
- From the Library pop-up menu, choose Music.
- Click Songs in the navigation bar.
- Click the song you want to delete.
- Press Delete on your keyboard.
In iTunes 11 or later, the album cover art will remain visible, but a Download icon will appear on it to allow you to download the item again (in countries that support this).
Note: If you didn't purchase a song from the iTunes Store, you can't download it again for free from iTunes in the Cloud. You might want to back it up somewhere on your computer.
I hope this helps,
-Joe

Jun 5, 2014 3:23 PM in response to drew-1664by basilfaulty,I have found a way to delete a track in iTunes 11.2.0.115 using Windows 7.
1. right click on the track in iTunes and select Get info then on the summary tab note the name of the track.
2. open a Windows Explorer window and select to search the C: drive then type the file name in the search box
3. when the results come up if your file is there you can right click on it and a menu comes up with an option to Delete the file so click on Delete and it will be gone to the recycle bin
Fine so long as you don't have a lot of files to delete.

Just downloaded ITunes 11.2.2 and 'lo and behold' if you 'right-click' on an item and click 'Mark as played', it disappears from your list ! With some fooling around, I also discovered a 'Deleted Files' list, and clicked on/high lighted then hit 'delete' on keyboard, and they FINALLY went away !
Thanks to Developers for finally 'fixing' this annoying problem, and you guys for your suggestions !
Cheers,
Drew
