iPhoto album to USB to be used on a projector

Hi there

I have made a slideshow on iPhoto and it looks amazing when played on the app on the mac.....what I would like to do is copy this album/slideshow to a USB stick and then plug the stick directly into the hd projector at my party venue so it plays exactly the same as iPhoto....is there any chance of this or am I dreaming here?.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty new to all this! : )

I'm pretty sure you'll need to connect a Mac to it to project the slideshow, either as a movie or an iPhoto slideshows. I could be wrong but I'd call the venu and ask what's needed on your part to play the slideshow. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to do what's needed.

What version of iPhoto do you have?

If you have iDVD you could create a slideshow in iDVD, burn to disk and play it via a DVD player if they have one at the venu.

xExport the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.

Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.

Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:

Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

You can set the iDVD project to automatically play the slideshow when the disk in inserted into the player and have the slidsehow loop continuously if desired.

Hi there

Many thanks for all this info,it all sounds perfect,however....i know the projector doesnt have a cd drive and nor does my mac (yet)

my iphoto is version 9.3 iphoto 11. I have exported the mov file to desktop and sent that to a usb stick.....when i plug it into another laptop and play the mov file, the pic quality is really bad and it doesnt loop,im guessing i did something wrong, the mov file was only 11mb and it took zero time to export. In an ideal world,i would like the usb stick to play automatically or with some help from myself....and then loop in top quality because i really dont want to take my macbook to the venue :/

Thanks again, any more help would be great 🙂
