Q: No Storage Left on iCloud

Hi Forum,

im confused as my 2 iOS devices, an iPhone 5 and iPad Air, both say no room left on my icloud to back up. Both are set not to back up a great deal. my iPhone says the next back up is 2.2GBs but off all the apps its going to back up, an app of 19mbs is the largest, so there isnt anything large. My settings have been like this for a while, not backing up anything large as most things i have are syncing elsewhere, so why has this suddenly become a problem.my bnext back up is now 2.9GBs?!?!! i have no idea where this is coming from?

The same on my ipad, there isnt anytyhing that large to back up and it says similar..

confused...

    Hey mumbles2701,

Thanks for the question. The following resource provides some great information that you may find helpful:

iCloud: Troubleshooting creating an iCloud backup

Why is my backup larger than what I see is being backed up?

When managing your storage, you may notice a difference between the size of your backup and the amount of total data that your device appears to be backing up. That's because some apps that come with iOS back up data to iCloud, but do not appear under Backup Options on your device. For example, Voice Memos and Messages (especially messages with attachments) add to the size of your backup. Follow these steps if you want to save Message attachments or voice memos to your computer before deleting them from your device:

    Messages

    1. Tap the image or video to open it, tap the Share button, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

    2. Save your Camera Roll to your computer.

    3. Delete the image or video from your Camera Roll, then delete the message or message attachment from Messages.

    Voice Memos

    1. Connect your device to your computer.

    2. In iTunes, select the device in the sidebar.

    3. Select the Music tab.

    4. Select Sync Music, and click Apply. Your Voice Memos will be saved as a playlist in your iTunes library.

    Thanks,

    Matt M.

sounds odd. how do i know if messages are the problem? i have to go through them all and save and delete then find out its not the issue? I dont think it is as i use Whats App, and those photos auto save to Photostream.

this is all i have that its apparently trying to store...but it says i need an additional 2.3GBs ontop of the 2.2GBs already in iCloud?!?!?!

Whats it trying to store? theres obviously something somewhere?

Also, does icloud need room to upload all data again? or does it just add new data?
