Q: Profile Manager VPP tokens

I know that Profile Manager only supports the use of one VPP token. I imagine there are many, espcially school systems, that are running into this issue and I'm wondering what your work around has been.

We created a management account at deploy.apple.com. I have created around 30 VPP accounts under the management account through the deploy.apple.com website. We needed multiple accounts due to each school having its own source of funds.

Though the VPP accounts are assocatied with our management account there does not appear to be a way to get a token for the management account. Therefore I can't manage the apps with in profile manager.

Anyone running into this and come up with a workaround?

The management token and the VPP token are different.  You download the VPP token when you log into the VPP website with that account, go into the account settings, and you can download the token then load the token on your server under profile manager-> VPP token.

However you can only use one at a time and this causes problems.

Some 3rd party software MDM solutions allow for multiple VPP tokens at once.

I'm actually planning on running multiple VMs with OS server on each.  But I have 7 vs your 30 so the other MDMs may be your best option.

Did anyone solve this. So sad this is not possible under one OS X Server instance!

ddoss999: did you ever run those VMs like that. What hardware and virtualization platform where you planning on using? I am planning a setup similar to this if I cannot get this working. Would be great to know.

I am also having the same issue.

We are a school using DEP, VPP and Profile Manager all in conjunction with each other.

Until recently everything has been working fine as we have just been using the Management Account to purchase Apps. But we would like to be able to use more than one account to make things more efficient for ourselves. So I got my boss to create me an Admin Account to make purchases, I then went to the VPP Store and bought 50 copies of FREE apps. It then became apparent that the Service Token is unique to the individual Account, as any apps Purchased on my account did not transfer into Profile Manager.

    Now, off-topic;

Why must Apple make it so hard when it comes to there own MDM solutions. I've lost track of how many times I've had to change or redo an entire MDM just to be able to achieve a hassle free, user-friendly experience for students and teachers!

It's certainly improved in the last two years, but It's still a pain!

    Hello,

It would be so hand if either Apple could either help us combine purchased licensed Apps, or have more than one VPP account on Profile Manager.

I work at a school, where initially we had codes for BYO devices. Those codes have now become licenses after being converted.

We have a few accounts, we have made purchases on two of the accounts. Short story, I basically wanted to have a seperate account each for codes and licenses. Now that we have convereted the codes to licenses on one of the accounts, there are licenses for paid apps on two accounts.

It would be great if I could combine the two! Or have both accounts in Profile Manager.

    Hello,

Because VPP was all new, we launched right into things not knowing the ramifications. Now places that have multiple VPP accounts are having this problem. I think Profile Manager is great (there were a few issues before version 5.) But I wish I could consolidate all accounts into one. Apple, I would love to use this feature.
