Q: ECC off message in About This Mac

i was verifying something about the Memory in my iMac. At the top of the report (under the Apple Menu) it lists RAM that is installed in each slot. At the top, however, it stated "ECC disabled".

What does that mean?

Aperture 3, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), running an iMac

Hi daikambu65,

ECC stands for Error Correcting Code, a type of RAM that is not used in Macs, as you can see from this article -
