Q: general questions about Ipad

1- now I know that iPAd has flash memory as  a harddisk drive,

now my question is

1-- is this flash memory doing job as memory and as a  harddisk drive.

2--so when it is doing the job as a harddisk drive then you can keep data on it !

3-the accu or the battery in iPAd how long live it has or after how many years you have to change it?

4- I saw in a picture of iPad that it has GPS , UMTS, GSM, CDMA, LTE,   why all this function for .   I know that  LTE is more faster than GSM, GPS,and UMTS.

is that because of each provider has some prijs for every cellular type!

and I read  that CDMA is used only in  American countries and not in EU.,is it true?

very short answers wil be enough.

thanks

johan

    Hi Johannes,

I'm sure people will correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding of these queries is listed below:

    1. The Flash Storage on iPad is for storage only and comes in 16/32/64/128GB variations, as far as I'm aware this is totally separate to the actual memory used for running programs.

    2. As above

    3. The battery life on the iPad is very good and lasts for several hours, however with most things it depends what you are doing with it, e.g: web browsing, watching videos to how long the battery lasts between charges.

My other half is using my iPad 1st gen which was purchased in 2010 I believe and that is still going strong, so the life of the battery is also very good.

    4.  These are the different (frequencies) I believe which Mobile Networks operate on, much like there are different 'flavours' of LTE there are different bands the Mobile Operators use to provide functionality, obviously iPad tries to support as many as it can, hence all the different ones listed.

    Regards,

    Steve

1 - the storage and RAM are separate. First gen iPad has 256 meg of RAM, second gen and first Mini have 512 meg, other iPads have 1024 meg

2 - you can store date on your iPad, but only within apps - iPads don't have a 'file system' like a normal computer, apps are sandboxed and store their own content with them (so delete an app and you delete its data)

3 - battery is designed to still have approx 80% capacity after 1000 charge cycles - from http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html

    Charge Cycles3

A properly maintained iPad battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 1000 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.

4 - I'm not aware of any European carriers that use CDMA. Phone carriers in different countries operate on different bands (so an iPad has to cope with different countries carries), and LTE is not available in all countries.

Using cellular networks in a different country : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1807

GPS means that it has a built-in GPS chip  e.g. for navigation - only the cellular iPads have the GPS chip, wifi-only iPads rely on getting their location from the wifi router that they are connected to being in Apple's database
